Comrade Chika Nzelu JP, Chairman of the NANS Stakeholders Forum Zone F, the zone is seeking to contest for at least three positions, including Vice President External, Director of Travel and Exchange, and Assistant Secretary General.
The resolution, which was reached after a critical evaluation during a zonal meeting, emphasized the importance of fairness, equity, and justice in the allocation of offices. The zone expressed concerns that it was not adequately consulted in the decision-making process.
“We demand that our zone be allowed to take its three positions without any hindrance,” the statement read. “Any attempt to shortchange the South East Zone F will be resisted with all available means.”
The NANS South East Zone warned that it would not participate in the accreditation and election process if its demands are not met.
The resolution was also signed by other stakeholders, including Comrade Ebube Ijeoma, Coordinator of Zone F South East, and Comrade Don Chris Afulike, among others.
The development comes as NANS prepares for its national convention and elections. The outcome of the convention is expected to shape the future of the student union.
Efforts to reach the NANS national leadership for comment were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
