A security official confirmed that “everywhere is calm and nothing is happening” despite the noticeable security presence, including at least three armored personnel carriers stationed at the main entrance.
As part of the emergency rule, Governor Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly were suspended for six months. Vice Admiral Ibas will oversee the administration of Rivers State during this period.
