The initiative is part of Senator Tinubu’s efforts to build a coalition against HIV/AIDS, emphasizing the need for concerted efforts to eliminate the disease. Nigeria aims to join other African countries that have achieved the UNAIDS 95-95-95 target by 2030.

Alarming statistics from the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare reveal that in 2024, over 100,000 children and nearly 2 million adults were living with HIV in Nigeria. Most infants born to HIV-positive mothers were not tested within the first two months of birth.

The Free to Shine campaign aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, prioritizing health as a key pillar of national development. By raising awareness and renewing commitments, the campaign aims to create a healthier Nigeria where every individual can thrive.
