Gov. Peter Mbah Prioritises Industrial/SMEs Sector Economic Growth and Global Recognition at 36th Int’l Trade Fair Flag Off

Enugu State Leadership, Governor Peter Mbah, flagged off the 36th edition of the International Trade Fair, with advanced commitments to prioritising on a global scale, the economic boost and worldwide recognition of the SMEs/Industrial Sectors.

This was the resounding target at this year’s fair, themed: Developing Nigeria Industrial Sector/SMEs for Economic Advancement and Global Recognition”, as captured by the State Ministry of Information and Communication during the opening ceremony at the Trade Fair Centre, Enugu.

The event, drew an impressive lineup of dignitaries, including the Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade & Investment, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, other Executive Governors; His Excellencies, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, Dr. Alex Otti, Sen. Hope Uzodinma, Hon. Francis Nwifuru; apex leaders of Anambra, Abia, Imo, and Ebonyi States ably represented.

In his goodwill message, Gov. Mbah, represented by his Deputy, Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai, extended a warm welcome to all the attendees, urging them see the weeklong event as a unifying opportunity to thrive and network business wise as world allies, sister states, friends, visitors or even citizens, adding that his administration is inclusively committed to productive partnerships, having put appropriate infrastructures in place, and more underway, to help businesses thrive beyond expectations.

“I extend to everyone, a very warm welcome to Enugu State. This event lays credence to the believe in the State that we are bound by faith. Hence, as a government, we are committed to partnering and providing the desirable business framework.

“We are specifically working in no distant time to make available the opportunity for credit access. We have been combating all forms of business challenges to attract more sustainable investments that would help businesses to stand the tests of time.

“We have advanced the provisions of a secured environment, infrastructures and the education sector to help equip citizens with the necessary skills to thrive in the business world.”

The Enugu State’s Number One Citizen commended the relentless efforts of the President, Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, ECCIMA; Sir Odeiga Jideonwo, for overseeing the organisation of the fair, alongside its counterpart; the Investment Ministry, and supportive friends to State, all over the world for their presence, prayers and consistency, assuring of his administration’s swift response to arising feedbacks.

Speaking, the President, Nigeria Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Barr. Dele Kelvin Oye, registered admiration for Gov. Mbah’s persistent harnessing of the state’s business community, disclosing commitments to aspiring policy engagements for credit facility, market access and financing, while acknowledging the capabilities of the trade fair initiative in boosting the overall financial growth of the state and country at large. He however emphasized the need to upscale combating challenges of the power sector for business competitiveness.

Also speaking, ECCIMA President, Sir Odeiga Jideonwo, expressed fulfillment in the advancement of the projects within its jurisdiction, citing amongst others in a tour of the complex with dignitaries present, the first 3000sqm Exhibition Hall, which he stated was laid by Gov. Mbah, to be completed mid year with state-of-the-art facilities, and calling for possible replications of same within the Trade Fair complex to cater for exhibitors’ expected satisfaction as obtainable in other Centres in the country.

Sir Jideonwo expressed delight in the State government, other critical stakeholders and sponsors of the 36th International Trade Fair event, imploring in tandem with the theme of event for government to accentuate steering the wheels of the SMEs sector to greater development to the benefits of all and sundry.

The Int’l Trade Fair Complex from the eyes of the Information Ministry, has been transformed into a vibrant marketplace, buzzing with activities and excitements, with visitors and exhibitors enjoying 24/7 top security, food courts, rest areas, and entertainment zones featuring live music and cultural performances as witnessed during the opening ceremony by the ‘Adanta’ dance troupe —all firmly ensured by the Enugu state government.

The ongoing fair was first announced in March by the Enugu State Government, with a call for exhibitors to register and participate. It has attracted over 500 exhibitors from different parts of the country and it’s expected to last a weeklong, 4th till 14th, April, 2025.

The event is a testament that the Enugu State Government is committed to exploring innovative methods towards ensuring a business-friendly environment that is evident in its efforts to streamline regulations, foster innovations, and support businesses on a global scale for positive results.
