According to reports, Eze, representing Isi-Uzo constituency in the Enugu House of Assembly, made the announcement during plenary on Tuesday. The Speaker of the assembly, Uche Ugwu, read out a letter announcing Eze’s defection to the PDP.

Eze, who was elected on the platform of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, expressed sadness over his decision. However, he stated that it was based on the irreconcilable divisions, incessant crises, and factions within the Labour Party at the national and state levels.

The lawmaker criticized the leadership of the Labour Party, stating that it had regrettably become synonymous with internal strife. This, he said, had diminished the party’s capacity to fulfill the electorate’s aspirations. Eze affirmed his belief that the PDP offered a more stable platform to serve his constituents.

This development comes amid reports of internal conflicts within the Labour Party. Eze’s defection is seen as a significant blow to the party, which has been struggling to maintain unity among its ranks.

In related news, the Obidient Movement leader recently spoke on rumors of Peter Obi dumping the Labour Party. However, no official statement has been made by Obi or the party regarding this speculation.
