“The demonstrations are not organic expressions of public sentiment, but rather, calculated attempts by disgruntled elements to settle personal scores and advance a malicious agenda,” the governor alleged.

He further claimed that the individuals behind the plot are driven by a desperate desire to paint Benue State in the worst possible light, with the ultimate goal of forcing the hand of President Ahmed Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in the state.

The governor also expressed concern over the blatant attempts to weaponise the legal profession in this campaign of deceit, citing instances of ex-convicts being paraded at press conferences and unregistered organisations submitting petitions filled with lies and offensive accusations to the National Assembly.

Governor Alia assured the public that Benue State is safe and secure, with all arms of government functioning smoothly. He also highlighted the proactive steps being taken by his administration to curtail the activities of armed herders and protect communities.

The governor’s allegations have sparked concerns about the stability and security of Benue State, and the role of opposition forces in undermining the government’s efforts.
