Enugu Women in Politics unite with Enugu Prayer Network to Pray for Progress

President of Enugu Women in Politics, Dame Rita Mbah, a BOT Member of the PDP, at the weekend stormed the monthly prayer meeting of the Women Prayer Network with her members to offer prayers for the progress of Enugu State.

First Lady of Enugu State, Her Excellency, Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah, is the grand patron of the Women Prayer Network, founded to unite women from across the 17 LGAs of the state to pray for progress of Enugu State.

The weekend meeting took place at the Okpara Square on Friday, 9 May 2025, and was attended by notable dignitaries, including Rt. Hon. Jane Eneh, the deputy majority leader in the State House of Assembly who also doubles as Vice President of Enugu Women in Politics.

Other powerful attendees included Mrs. Chinyere Ugwu, wife of the Speaker, Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Enih, Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Rita Edeh, wife of the ALGON Chairperson, and various LGA Chairpersons.

The line-up of powerful ministers of God at the event included Pastor Uzoigwe, who led the opening prayer, Pastor Chioma Nnamani who spoke on “Parenting” Pastor Stephen Louis, who led state-focused payer and intercessions, and Rev. Edwin Njoku, who led the closing prayer. It was an uplifting session overall.

An elated First Lady Nkechinyere Mbah, represented by the wife of the Speaker, Mrs. Chinyere Ugwu, spoke on the need for unity among women.

In her goodwill message, the Vice President of Enugu Women in Politics and Deputy Majority Leader in the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jane Eneh, expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and his wife for fostering an environment that enables women to participate in politics and pray for the state’s progress.

The Enugu Women in Politics electrified the audience when it announced a monthly financial support to a local government area at every monthly prayer meeting. Friday’s financial donation went to prayer delegates from Aninri Local Government Area.

Speaking to the press at the end of the meeting, President and leader of Enugu Women in Politics, Dame Rita Mbah, commended the various initiatives of the First Couple aimed at uplifting women in the State. She also noted with satisfaction the growing attendance of Enugu women from all the local government areas at the monthly prayer meetings.

Dame Rita, who is also the Executive Chairman of Enugu State Tourism Board, commended the coordinator of the Women Prayer Network, Mrs. Favour Ugwuanyi, and reaffirmed the commitment of Enugu Women in Politics to the prayer network’s meetings.

“We’ll not relent in praying for God’s blessing on the administration of Dr. Peter Mbah and His continued protection of the First Couple,” she said.
