The Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to the development and advancement of youths in the local government. This declaration was made during a congratulatory visit to the newly inaugurated leadership of the Awgu Youth General Assembly, following a smooth and successful election and swearing-in ceremony.

The inauguration ceremony, which marked a new chapter in youth leadership within the LGA, was overseen by the Senior Political Adviser to the Chairman, Hon. Uzochukwu Emeka. The event drew a diverse crowd of youth stakeholders, community leaders, members of the Electoral Committee, and former youth executives, all of whom were eager to witness the transition of leadership.

During a reception for the youth leaders at the council headquarters, Hon. Uchenna Okolo expressed his joy at the emergence of a dedicated leadership team. He praised their zeal and willingness to serve, recalling the vital role the youth played during his campaign. “I remember your support and active involvement during the campaign,” he said. “This administration is committed to working with you to create sustainable avenues for growth and progress. It aligns with the broader vision of our Governor to make Enugu State a model of inclusive development.”

The Chairman encouraged the youth leaders to generate innovative ideas and drive initiatives that will prepare their peers to thrive, particularly in digital technology and artificial intelligence. “Our young people must be equipped to compete globally,” he emphasized. “We are actively developing our ICT and agricultural sectors, including plans to revamp the ICT Centre at the Council Secretariat. I urge all our youths to plug into these opportunities.”

Hon. Uchenna Okolo also called on the Awgu Youth General Assembly to maintain unity and work collectively for the overall good of the youth across the local government. This appeal underscores his administration’s commitment to fostering a collaborative environment where youths can thrive and contribute to the development of the local government.

Also present at the meeting were the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Nelson Uduji, Hon. David Nwali, Supervisor for Youths and Education, and other distinguished stakeholders. Their presence underscored the importance of the occasion and the administration’s commitment to youth development.
