According to the communique, the ZEC unanimously recommended Hon. Sunday Udeh-Okoye as the candidate to complete the term of office of the National Secretary, following a directive from the PDP National Working Committee (NWC).

The committee urged the NWC to uphold its decision and allow the Deputy National Secretary to function as the Acting National Secretary pending ratification of the nominee by the National Executive Committee (NEC).

The ZEC expressed frustration over the repeated nomination processes for the South East zone, noting that the zone has consistently served as a stronghold of the PDP and has made significant contributions to the party’s growth.

The communique highlighted the zone’s achievements, including the recent return of key figures from the Labour Party, and the growth of PDP seats in the Enugu State House of Assembly.

The committee warned that failure to implement their position may lead to a reconsideration of their relationship with the PDP, stating that they hope their position will be accorded the honour and immediacy it deserves.

The communique was signed by Chief Ali Odefa, Zonal Chairman, PDP, South East.
