
The Awgu Local Government Area Smart Farm project, championed by the Executive Chairman, Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo’s administration, has entered its preliminary stage. This initiative aligns with Governor Peter Mbah’s ambitious agricultural revolution in Enugu State, aiming to transform the agricultural sector by engaging residents in smart farming activities.

The project is currently in its preliminary stage, with significant progress expected in the coming months. The council has a database of over 1,000 registered farmers who will be allocated portions of the smart farm in the next stage. The project aims to leverage technology and modern practices to boost agricultural productivity and food security in the state.
The smart farm will feature a variety of crops, including:
– Staple crops: maize, cassava,
– Vegetables: spinach, peppers, and okra
– Fruits: watermelon, Cucumber etc
The Enugu State Government has demonstrated its commitment to agriculture and agro-industrialization through initiatives like the Smart Farm project. With a focus on empowering farmers and increasing food production, the government is poised to make a lasting impact on the agricultural sector.



The second stage of the project will focus on allocating portions to registered smart farmers. This development is expected to create employment opportunities, increase food production, and improve the livelihoods of residents in Awgu Local Government Area and beyond.
