Enugu First Lady’s Senatorial Tour Signals Grassroots Devt Push – ALGON Chair Hails Gov Mbah

The Wife of the Enugu State Governor, Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah, has declared her recent familiarization tour of the Enugu East Senatorial Zone as concrete evidence of the State Government’s unwavering commitment to grassroots development.

Mrs. Mbah stated this during her familiarization tour of Enugu East Senatorial district held at Nkanu East Local Government Area headquarters in Amagunze on Sunday, June 8th, 2025, as part of her engagement with the senatorial district.

“The Enugu East Senatorial zone familiarization tour is proof of our resolve for grassroots development,” the First Lady emphasized, underscoring the administration’s focus on bringing governance and empowerment initiatives directly to communities.
The first lady who was full of joy, applauded the people of Enugu East Senatorial zone for coming out en-masse to welcome her.

Her familiarization tour aims to foster a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the Enugu East Senatorial zone, enabling her to better support initiatives that benefit the residents

Speaking during the event on behalf of Enugu East Senatorial zone Council Chairmen which includes, Hon John Ogbodo,chairman Nkanu west LGA , Hon Barr Obiora Obeagu, chairman isi-uzo LGA , Hon Engr pastor Beloved-dan Anike, chairman Enugu East LGA, Hon Barr Ibenaku Onoh, chairman Enugu North LGA, and Hon Caleb Ani, chairman Enugu south LGA, the state ALGON chairman, Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government and the chief host, Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Edeh, commended the first lady for taking her time to familiarize with the people of Enugu East Senatorial zone.
He also seized the opportunity to commend the governor on his numerous projects completed and ongoing within the zone, stating that for the past two years of Governor’s Mbah’s administration, that Enugu has turned into a massive construction site while also assuring the first lady of the zone’s total support to governor.

Aligning with the First Lady’s message, Hon. Edeh declared, “What we are witnessing in Enugu is unprecedented and uncommon from Gov Mbah.” He pointed to the Governor’s impactful policies and development strides as setting a new benchmark for the state.

The chairperson Forum of LGA chairmen’s wives and wife of Nkanu East LGA chairman, Mrs Rita Edeh on behalf of other wives of LGA chairmen in the zone,commended the wife of the governor for her wonderful initiative and supports for the women in the state especially Enugu East Senatorial zone.
“You have shown that leadership is not only about occupying the front seat, but also about standing firmly by the leader and working tirelessly for the people. Your dedication and advocacy efforts, especially in women and youth development, have not gone unnoticed,” she said.
Mrs Edeh described the First Lady as “a pillar of strength and a remarkable partner in progress”, noting that her visible commitment and behind-the-scenes efforts have significantly contributed to the success of the current administration.

She further acknowledged that the good governance being experienced by the people of the State under His Excellency Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah is being complemented by the strategic and impactful support of the First Lady.
Other chairmen’s wives echoed what Mrs Ede said in their separate speeches.

Hon Nnolim Nnaji, member representing Nkanu East/West at Federal house of Representative, Hon commissioner for gender, children and social development Enugu State, Mrs Ngozi Enih, Hon Okey Mba, member representing Nkanu East at the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon frank Anioma, Special Adviser on political matters to the Governor, Hon Princess Peace Nnaji, PDP State woman leader, Hon Princess Peace Nnaji, former member representing Nkanu East/West at house of Representatives, Hon Mrs Dame Rita Mbah, Board of Trustee Member PDP, Hon Chinwe Mbah PDP woman leader Nkanu East LGA, in their separate speeches applauded the first lady of the state for the initiative, and pledged to support her and her husband the executive Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Barr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah in their efforts to reposition the state and place the state in world map.

Mrs. Mbah’s tour of the Enugu East Zone, culminating in Nkanu East, is seen as a significant step in fostering direct engagement between the State Government and the populace at the local level. The emphasis on “grassroots development” and the accompanying praise for the Governor’s “unprecedented” work signal a concerted push to ensure developmental initiatives permeate all corners of Enugu State.
