The Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, has extended warm regards and sincere appreciation to all fathers and father figures across Awgu LGA and beyond, recognizing their vital contributions to the family unit and society at large. In his message titled “Dear Fathers, Mentors, and Pillars of Our Communities,” Hon. Okolo reflected on the enduring importance of fatherhood, describing the occasion not just as a celebration, but a tribute to the strength, love, and unwavering commitment fathers demonstrate daily.

“Father’s Day is not merely a celebration—it is a tribute to the strength, love, wisdom, and unwavering dedication that fathers show every day,” he stated. “Whether through gentle guidance or firm protection, the presence of a father can shape the life of a child and influence the direction of an entire generation.”

The Awgu Council boss acknowledged the tireless efforts of fathers who rise early and work late to support their families, highlighting their influence not only in their homes but also within the broader community—as mentors, role models, and leaders. “We honour the men who wake up early and stay up late to provide for their families,” Okolo said. “We honour those who offer a shoulder to lean on, a hand to lift others up, and words that inspire and strengthen. We honour fathers who lead with humility, discipline, compassion, and quiet resilience.”

Addressing the broader impact of fatherhood, Hon. Okolo praised men who instill core values such as honesty, hard work, and service in their children—emphasizing that their influence extends beyond family settings into churches, schools, workplaces, and the streets. “To the men who act as role models not just in their homes, but also in our schools, churches, workplaces, and streets—you are seen, you are valued, and you are appreciated,” he added.

Speaking from personal experience, Hon. Okolo noted the challenges and sacrifices that come with fatherhood but affirmed the deep fulfillment and joy it brings. “As a father myself, I understand the challenges and sacrifices that come with the role. But I also know the unmatched joy that comes from watching our children grow, thrive, and succeed,” he said.

The Chairman also paid tribute to late fathers whose memories and legacies continue to inspire and shape lives. “Let us also use this opportunity to remember those fathers who are no longer with us but whose legacies continue to live on in the lives they touched,” he stated.

Concluding his address, Hon. Okolo called for a renewed commitment to family values and community building, urging society to continue empowering fathers and appreciating their vital roles. “As we celebrate this year’s Father’s Day, may we renew our collective commitment to building stronger families and a more compassionate society—where the role of every father is supported, respected, and empowered,” he said. “May God bless all our fathers with good health, wisdom, and peace. May He continue to guide us all in the task of building a better and more united Awgu LGA.”

He closed his message with a simple yet powerful greeting: “Happy Father’s Day!”
