Nkanu East Deputy Chairman Bids Farewell to Mother, as LGA Leadership, ALGON Chair Offer Condolences

A profound atmosphere of solidarity marked the burial ceremony of Mrs. Veronica Nnenna Okwor (nee Onogoru Agboeme), beloved mother of Hon. Paul Okwor, the Deputy Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Area (LGA). The event, held on Thursday 19th of June, 2025 in Ubahu, drew together family, friends, government officials, and community members to honour the late matriarch.

Leading the delegation of dignitaries to offer condolences, is the Chairman of Nkanu East LGA and the State Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) Hon Sydney Okechukwu Edeh, Accompanied by Nkanu west LGA Executive, Hon John Ogbodo, Enugu south LGA Executive Chairman, Hon Caleb Ani, Hon Aka Eze Aka of Udenu, Hon Uche Okolo of Awgu, and Hon Eric Odoh of Igbo Etiti LGA.

Speaking to reporters, Hon. Edeh praised Mrs. Okwor: “She wasn’t just the Deputy Chairman’s mother. She raised leaders and community pillars. Her legacy of integrity, hard work, and service inspires everyone who knew her.”

He added warmly: “No matter how successful you become, you always need your mother. My family and entire Nkanu East prays for you as we remember her service to women and Ubahu .”

The funeral was filled with family, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers honoring Mrs. Okwor. She was remembered for her warmth, wisdom, and positive impact on many lives.

Hon. Paul Okwor thanked everyone for their support: “The love shown to my family during this loss has been a huge source of strength.”

Mrs. Veronica Nnenna Okwor was celebrated as a woman of great strength, dignity, and wisdom, leaving a lasting legacy for her family and community.
