Working in partnership with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), the Office for Nigerian Digital Innovation, and the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, Enugu is delivering results that reflect a clear commitment to youth development, digital capacity building, and enterprise support.
So far, over 14,000 young people have enrolled in the Federal Government’s flagship 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme. Out of this number, more than 1,700 have received specialized training in fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cybersecurity, and Software Engineering, positioning them for high-value roles in Nigeria’s growing digital economy.
In addition, work is underway on a Digital Innovation Multi-Sectoral Hub in Enugu — a state-of-the-art complex that will feature startup co-working spaces and dedicated training centres. The hub aims to serve as a breeding ground for digital entrepreneurs and innovators across various sectors.
One of the flagship youth initiatives making waves is the Enugu Campus Hackathon, which is fueling student-led innovation. The programme challenges young talents to solve real-life problems using technology, encouraging the development of cutting-edge solutions and fresh entrepreneurial energy.
These efforts are already gaining global recognition. Startups based in the Southeast, supported by state-backed programmes, are now participating in global events like GITEX Supernova — showcasing innovations tackling local and national challenges in security, healthcare, and agriculture.
For Enugu, this surge in digital activity is not just about policy, it is about implementation and measurable impact. The state is building a robust digital future where talent meets opportunity, infrastructure fosters creativity, and innovation becomes a key driver of economic growth.
“The future belongs to those who innovate, and Enugu is ready,” a statement from the Office of Digital Economy emphasized.
With the momentum currently underway, Enugu continues to solidify its reputation as a rising digital hub in Nigeria and a model for youth-centric innovation across Africa.
