Prof. Hyginus Banko Okibe has commended the Management and Staff of the Board for their invaluable support and total commitment towards the implementation of government programmes to develop basic education in the state.
Speaking at an emergency meeting he held with the Management and Staff of the Board, Prof. Okibe appreciated their dedication to duty, pointing out that from available results across states of the federation, the Board is not found wanting or lagging behind in basic education in the country.
The Executive Chairman announced that by the 22nd of this month (September, 2025), the full academic programme will commence in the Smart Green Schools in the state, and added that as a vanguard of this change to digital teaching and learning, they must ensure that the government programme and action plan to achieve good results are not hindered.
He reminded them that as major stakeholders in the basic education sector of the state, they must go the extra mile and do the needful in the discharge of their official duties with dedication, commitment, passion, and selflessness, and above all, change their mindset to the positive side since it will no longer be business as usual.
According to him, this period calls for personal sacrifice, hard work, perseverance, and fidelity, adding that as one family they should work as a team, think normally, avoid nagging, and eschew all factors that could bring the Board and basic education down in the state.
He announced that the Management and Staff of the Board will soon commence day-to-day monitoring/ supervision of the Smart Green Schools in the state and urged the staff to develop themselves in ICT and digital knowledge to be able to show competence and adjust to the new change in the discharge of their duties.
Prof. Okibe disclosed that his administration will continue to ensure transparency and accountability in the management of the Board and ensure that everybody is carried along in the scheme of things.
He stated that new departments and units will be created in the Board and also give titles as required by UBEC to broaden operational zones and benefits accruing to them.
The ENSUBEB Boss said that the meeting forum will be more regular, to meet one-on-one with a view to sharing thoughts on some issues and dialogue in line with some of the changes the Board considered necessary to help reposition basic education in the state.
He assured that no staff will be neglected or deprived of their entitlement provided that they are sincere and hardworking, adding that their welfare will continue to be on the front burner in his administration and their interest will be protected.
