According to eyewitness accounts, neither the victim nor the principal suspect, identified as Daddy_Yo (also called Onyeka, from Umudiaka Nsukka), is a student of UNN.

The clash reportedly began when Power_Autos, who drove a Mercedes-Benz GLK, accidentally scratched the car of the rival group. Although the university security team initially intervened and de-escalated the situation, tensions resurfaced later in the night.

While attempting to leave the campus with his friends, Power_Autos was ambushed within the university environment by the same group, who arrived in three cars. His companions fled upon sensing danger, but the victim stepped out of his vehicle to assess the situation. He was immediately attacked, and his throat was slit with a knife. He died on the spot.

The assailants tried to flee, but one of their cars fell into a gutter within the campus. They abandoned the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot. The Chief Security Officer of UNN, Kris Alumona, promptly ordered all university exits blocked. Security operatives, assisted by the police, apprehended the suspects as they tried to escape through the Odenigwe Gate axis. Four suspects were arrested and are currently in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Enugu.

Observers have described the killing as both avoidable and wasteful. “As a big boy in Nigeria, there are places you should never be seen at unless you have private security. This is an avoidable death and a waste of human capital,” a commentator noted.

Condolences have poured in for the bereaved family. “May God console the family. I trust the Nigeria Police Force to show the culprits the reason people should live a disciplined life,” wrote Ikechukwu Donmichael Igwebuike in a public post.

The UNN community remains in shock, as what was meant to be a night of celebration turned into a scene of violence and tragedy.
