Hon. Engineer Charles Ugwuani, a former chairmanship candidate for Enugu East Local Government Area, has praised Hon. Professor Nnamchi, the member representing Enugu East/Isi Uzo Federal Constituency, as an astute lawmaker who has established himself as a leading light in the constituency.
“We are proud of him,” Ugwuani said. For the first time, a lawmaker from Nike is representing Enugu East/Isi Uzo and doing exceptionally well, not just for the constituency but for Enugu State and Nigeria as a whole.”
Ugwuani highlighted Nnamchi’s achievements, including garnering support from colleagues nationwide for the establishment of the Federal University of Agriculture in Ako-Nike. “His capacity and strong character in the House of Representatives are evident,” Ugwuani noted.
As an academic, Nnamchi was resourceful and supportive in capacity building for youths in the local government, and he expanded the programme to include youths from Usi Uzo Local Government Areas after his election into the House of Representatives.
Ugwuani, a native of Ugwogo-Nike in an interview in his dialect emphasized that the entire Nike community looks up to Nnamchi as a key figure in initiating a peace process to unite the various autonomous communities. “Professor Nnamchi is well-respected among the various autonomous communities that make up Nike,” he said.
As a way of promoting development and unity in Nike Land, Ugwuani suggested that Nnamchi’s peace-building initiative could start by bringing all the Igwes under one umbrella, followed by regular dialogues with community leaders, youth leaders, and other stakeholders on matters of common interest.
