In an internal memo dated 12th January, 2026, and referenced ENSUBEB/EC/14/2026/01, the Executive Chairman of ENSUBEB, Assoc. Prof. Hyginus Banko Okibe, addressed JSS Principals, Head-Teachers, Teachers, Administrators, School-Based Management Committees (SBMC), and other key stakeholders.

The memo, issued from the Office of the Executive Chairman, commended education managers and stakeholders for their commitment and contributions to the successful implementation of several innovative programmes that have continued to distinguish the Smart Green School initiative in Enugu State.

According to the Chairman, despite the inevitable challenges associated with an emerging system, school leaders and teachers remained resolute, ensuring that “excuses did not take the place of results.” He noted that many personnel made personal sacrifices and, in some cases, improvised to bridge gaps in service delivery, efforts he described as deeply appreciated and not taken for granted by the Board.

Assoc. Prof. Okibe stated that Monday, 12th January, 2026, marks the official commencement of Second Term activities in line with the Enugu State School Calendar, following the Christmas and New Year holidays. He described the new term as a “decisive moment for review and forward thinking” in the education journey of the state.

The Chairman also announced that the ENSUBEB Board has been reconstituted with new members, expressing optimism that, with the continued support and cooperation of stakeholders, the Board is positioned to deliver improved outcomes for children across the state.
He stated that achieving these goals would require unwavering dedication, punctuality, passion, and professionalism, stressing the need to avoid “irritating excuses and conducts” that undermine service delivery.

“We expect you to be at the right place at the right time and do the right thing at the right time and place,” the memo stated, adding that meaningful progress can only be achieved through collective effort and not in isolation.

The memo was signed by Assoc. Prof. Hyginus Banko Okibe, Executive Chairman, ENSUBEB, marking a clear directive and tone for the new academic term as schools across Enugu State resume full activities.
