…Say abuse on stakeholders intolerable
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Uzo-Uwani youths under the aegis of ‘Save Enugu Youth Initiative’ (SEYI) has faulted the claim credited to the member representing Uzo-Uwani in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Chukwuma Ekwueme, describing it as “a statement lacking in maturity, decorum, and factual truth.”
This was even as the group criticized the lawmaker for saying that the vote of confidence passed by the stakeholders of Uzo-Uwani on Wednesday at Ikenga Hotel Nsukka was procured.
The fiery message was contained in a statement released by the Chairman of the group, Mr. Ajuluchukwu Ezeakor on Thursday in Umulokpa, the Council Headquarters, stating that the lawmaker’s comments “cast doubts on the integrity of the very man Ndi Uzo-Uwani elected to speak for them.”

According to Ezeakor, the facts surrounding the political alignment of the local government remain clear and verifiable.
He said; “Ndi Uzo-Uwani unanimously agreed to support the administration of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and equally threw their weight behind the second-term bid of Barr. Chijioke Ezugwu. These are decisions rooted in performance and collective interest.”
He further criticized the House member, Hon. Ekwueme, noting that the community had long observed the “rejection” his political aspiration attracts.
Other parts of the statement read; “The rejection Hon. Ekwueme suffered when his name was mentioned by one Dr. Ajogwu for Uzo-Uwani people to endorse him is not new to us. We made several efforts to draw his attention to the needs of our people, but he neither honoured our positions nor adjusted his approach. We have been writing on our platforms for him to think home but he still paid a deaf ear to it. He has never come to calm the nerves of our people when we were passing through serious security challenges. Not even a word of advice. Today in our council, he is not enjoying the support of the stakeholders, the women and the youth. He lives his life in Enugu and rarely appear in party meetings.”
He added that it was a public knowledge that Hon. Ekweme was completing the second term of the Mba-Ano Development Centre, and by principles of equity, fairness, and justice, should not be seeking another mandate in the State Assembly.
Ezeakor maintained that the vote of confidence passed on Governor Peter Mbah and Barr. Chijioke Ezugwu received unanimous support which he (Ekwueme) was part of and never objected.
“The video clips of the endorsement are everywhere. People who were not even present on the day have seen the joyful moments of Ndi Uzo-Uwani celebrating the endorsement of His Excellency Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and Barr. Chijioke Ezugwu. Nothing about it is hidden,” he insisted.
He accused Hon. Ekwueme of “working against the tide” by denying the clear decisions of his constituents, especially the stakeholders.
“Ekweme’s denial is either an act of desperation or a deliberate rejection of the people’s resolution, the very people who made him their representative,” he said.
The SEYI chairman called on the people of Uzo-Uwani to remain steadfast in upholding fairness and accountability, as they will always stand intrepid to ensure that the council remains opposition-free.
“We urge Ndi Uzo-Uwani to continue ensuring that justice prevails. The endorsements of His Excellency and Barr. Ezugwu marks the beginning of that process. There is no justification for returning someone who has neither performed nor has the mandate of the people any longer,” he concluded.
He further advised the lawmaker to make peace with his constituents, especially Stakeholders of the party since the party is supreme over a candidate.
