Beneficiaries of the tertiary education scholarship programme sponsored by the member representing Enugu East/Isi Uzo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Paul Sunday Nnamchi, have formally matriculated at Ebonyi State University, marking a significant milestone in their academic journey.
The students, who gained admission into various disciplines through the lawmaker’s education support initiative, joined hundreds of other newly admitted students during the institution’s matriculation ceremony, a formal rite of passage that ushers new entrants into the academic community.
The colourful ceremony attracted parents, guardians and well-wishers who gathered to witness the moment their children officially became students of the university. The scholarship beneficiaries, dressed in academic gowns of different colours representing their departments, filed out proudly during the event while their families cheered them on.
Many of the parents described the moment as emotional and fulfilling, expressing gratitude to Professor Nnamchi for creating an opportunity that has enabled their children to pursue higher education.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Master Nomeh Joshua Friday, a student of Mass Communication with matriculation number 202551534276JF, said the students were deeply thankful to God for making their academic dreams come true through the scholarship programme.
He described Professor Nnamchi as a “God-sent helper,” noting that the initiative has provided many young people in the constituency with access to university education that may otherwise have been difficult to attain.
“Since my life, this is the first time I have seen a member of the National Assembly in Enugu East/Isi Uzo offering such a large number of tertiary scholarships,” he said, adding that the programme is both phenomenal and unprecedented in the constituency.
Parents and relatives of the beneficiaries also offered prayers for the lawmaker, commending him for investing in the educational future of youths in the constituency.
Meanwhile, it was gathered that several other students from Enugu East and Isi Uzo Federal Constituency are also currently studying at the University of Cross River State under the same tertiary education scholarship programme sponsored by Professor Nnamchi.
Observers say the scholarship initiative is gradually expanding access to higher education for youths in the constituency while contributing to human capital development and educational empowerment in the region.
