The 37-member state executive committee, led by Dr. Chukwunweike, emerged during the party’s state congress held peacefully at the popular Okpara Square in Enugu on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

In a congratulatory message, Prof. Nnamchi described their election as a clear demonstration of trust and confidence by party stakeholders, charging the new leadership to work diligently towards strengthening the party’s structure and expanding its influence across Enugu State.

According to him, the new executives must see their mandate as a call to service and commitment to building the APC into a formidable political force capable of competing effectively in the state.

The lawmaker also commended members of the party for what he described as the peaceful conduct of the congresses from the ward level through the local government areas to the state level. He noted that the orderly process reflected growing unity within the party and signaled its rising prominence in the state’s political landscape.

Prof. Nnamchi further praised the Governor of Enugu State, Barrister Peter Ndubisi Mba, for what he termed the successful harmonization of party members ahead of the congress. He said the governor’s leadership ingenuity had not only ensured a hitch-free exercise but had also contributed to raising governance standards in the state.

He expressed optimism that with the party structures now firmly established across all levels in the state, the APC is well positioned to expand its political influence in Enugu and across the Southeast geopolitical zone.

The federal lawmaker also expressed hope that the peaceful atmosphere that characterized the congresses would continue during the forthcoming party primaries that will produce candidates for the 2027 general elections.
