The Member representing Aninri, Awgu and Oji-River Federal Constituency, Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, has joined family members, associates, and well-wishers to mourn the passing of Late Elder Joseph Onyeneke Onwukwe, who was laid to rest on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, in Obeagu Oduma, Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The burial ceremony, held at the Joint Primary School Field in Obeagu Oduma, drew a significant turnout of dignitaries, community leaders, and residents, reflecting the deep respect and admiration the late elder commanded during his lifetime. He died at the age of 64.
Hon. Onwuegbu, who also chairs the House Committee on Lake Chad, attended the solemn occasion alongside his wife, Barr. Mrs. Stella Onwuegbu, and the Member representing Aninri State Constituency, Hon. Engr. Magnus Edeh, among other political associates and aides.
In his condolence message, the federal lawmaker expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family, particularly the widow, Hon. Marbel Onwukwe, an aide in his office, and their children. He prayed for divine comfort and strength for the family in this period of grief, describing the loss as painful but urging them to take solace in the impactful life lived by the deceased.
The event also witnessed the presence of traditional authority, including Igwe Jerome Emeka Iyiagu, Ezeudo I of Obeagu Oduma, who received the lawmaker and other dignitaries, adding cultural significance to the ceremony.
Also in attendance were members of Hon. Onwuegbu’s entourage, including Hon. Boniface Uchendu (SLA on Special Duties), Barr. Peter Ajah, Hon. Emeka Omera, Engr. Ifeanyichukwu Chukwu, Hon.
