
The Commissioner of Police in , , has warned officers and supervisory commanders under the command to uphold professionalism, discipline, and ethical conduct while carrying out their duties.

The warning was issued during the Enugu State Police Command’s Monthly Strategic Conference held on Wednesday, May 7, 2026, at the Senior Police Officers Mess, Agbani Road, Enugu.

Addressing senior officers at the conference, CP Giwa stressed the need for effective supervision of subordinates and strict adherence to the ethics, standards, and regulations of the Nigeria Police Force.

He stated that acts of misconduct, irresponsibility, and unprofessional behavior would no longer be tolerated within the command, regardless of the rank of the officer involved.
The conference was attended by Deputy Commissioners of Police, Assistant Commissioners, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and heads of tactical units, formations, departments, and sections across the state.

During the meeting, the Commissioner of Police also relayed directives from the Inspector-General of Police, , following a recent emergency conference with senior police officers nationwide.

According to the CP, the directives focused on professionalism, discipline, respect for human rights, intelligence-led policing, accountability, and responsible engagement with members of the public.
CP Giwa further warned officers against extortion, corruption, abuse of office, unlawful detention, and other forms of misconduct, noting that erring personnel would face disciplinary actions in line with extant laws and police regulations.
He charged officers and commanders to remain committed to proactive policing strategies aimed at improving public safety and strengthening confidence in law enforcement across the state.
