Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu Emerges APC Flag Bearer for Enugu North/South Reps Seat

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has elected Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu as its candidate for the Enugu North and South Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general election, following the party’s primary election held at the Enugu North Local Government Secretariat, GRA, Enugu.

Hon. Atu, who currently represents the constituency in the House of Representatives, secured a landslide victory in the exercise conducted among registered APC members from Enugu North and Enugu South Local Government Areas.

Announcing the result, the returning officer for the primary election, Hon. Ekwe Okwudiri, disclosed that a total of 30,779 votes were cast out of the 52,850 registered APC members across the constituency.

According to the results declared, Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu polled 30,396 votes to defeat Hon. Ajuluchukwu Ozor Eze, who garnered 383 votes.

Speaking after the exercise, the Executive Chairman of Enugu North Local Government Area, Hon. Ibenaku Harford Onoh, described the primary election as peaceful, transparent, and credible, noting that the outcome reflected the overwhelming confidence and support enjoyed by Hon. Atu among party faithful in the constituency.

Onoh also commended Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for what he described as visionary leadership in governance and effective political administration in Enugu State.

He stated that Governor Mbah’s policies and developmental initiatives in critical sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, and economic growth had continued to transform communities across the state.

According to him, the governor has equally played a significant role in strengthening political collaboration, consultations, and unity among stakeholders and party members, thereby fostering stability within the political structure of the state.

He further noted that several communities in Enugu State have continued to benefit from ongoing road construction projects, urban renewal programmes, investment drives, and business support initiatives under the present administration.

Onoh added that Governor Mbah’s leadership style has inspired increased participation of youths and grassroots supporters in political and governance processes.

Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area, Hon. Caleb Ani, said the successful conduct of the primary election demonstrated the level of unity and cooperation existing within the APC in the federal constituency.

He expressed satisfaction with the orderly conduct of delegates and party members during the exercise and expressed optimism that the APC would secure victory in the 2027 House of Representatives election.

In his acceptance speech, Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu expressed gratitude to party leaders, delegates, and supporters for the confidence reposed in him.

He assured constituents that the renewed mandate would further motivate him to continue providing quality representation through effective legislative engagement, empowerment programmes, youth development initiatives, and support for community-based projects.

The lawmaker also pledged to continue working closely with party stakeholders and supporters across Enugu North and South Federal Constituency towards strengthening the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Hon. Atu further commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Peter Mbah for their leadership qualities in governance and party administration, stating that their approaches to leadership had set commendable standards for political administration and good governance in the country.
