This was not merely an official engagement, but a reunion of shared values and long-standing professional respect.

The presentation was punctuated by a glowing tribute from Amb. Dr. Chief Ugwu, who painted a picture of a man whose reach and compassion have transcended his official duties. Speaking with deep admiration, she recounted how Barr. Ozongwu has been a pillar of support for countless Nigerians in the diaspora.

She described him as a “doctor of immigration issues,” explaining that he had earned this title through his tireless efforts in healing the “immigration sickness” that so often plagues those navigating foreign systems. Whether they were struggling with residency paperwork or the anxieties of being displaced, he acted as a healer of sorts—a legal practitioner who applied deep care to their status-related crises. Even for those without the means, he was a constant presence, and ensuring the next generation could pursue their dreams through education. He was sorting out documentation and securing homes with a dedication that went far beyond his professional call of duty.

Accepting the award on behalf of the Hon. Commissioner, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning Mrs Clara Nwakaego Eze expressed her profound gratitude. Offering a glimpse into the internal culture of the Ministry under his leadership, she remarked:

“Since I have been in the Ministry of Budget and Planning, he is one of the best Commissioners I have ever had the privilege to work with. He is a truly kind-hearted man who consistently puts the needs of others before his own.”

Mrs Ezeh lauded the Ada Di Ora Mma Initiative for their grassroots efforts, noting that the organization’s ability to “think outside the box” in their humanitarian approach is truly inspiring. They affirmed that the work being done by Amb. Dr. Chief Ugwu and her team is a godly pursuit, one that carries the promise of divine reward.

This ceremony serves as a powerful reminder that true leadership is measured not just by budgets and economic policies, but by the indelible mark of kindness left on the lives of others.
