The Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, has extended warm felicitations to children across Awgu LGA and beyond as part of activities marking the 2026 Children’s Day celebration, describing them as the pride, hope, and future of society.

Tochukwu Chukwu, the council chairman emphasized the need for continuous investment in children through quality education, moral upbringing, and supportive leadership to prepare them for future responsibilities.
Hon. Okolo noted that Children’s Day goes beyond the celebration of youthful innocence, stressing that it serves as a reminder of the enormous potential children possess as future leaders and builders of society.
“Today is not just a celebration of your youth and innocence, but a profound reminder of the immense potential you hold as the architects of our future,” the chairman stated.
He described children as the heartbeat of every community, representing hope, dreams, aspirations, and the promise of a better tomorrow. He further called on parents, teachers, caregivers, and leaders to remain committed to guiding children along the path of integrity, discipline, and excellence.
The Awgu council boss encouraged children within the local government area to remain focused on their education and personal growth, stressing that hard work, determination, and consistency are key ingredients for success in life.
“The future is bright, and it belongs to those who are willing to work hard and stay committed to their goals,” he added, urging young people to view every challenge as an opportunity for learning and development.
Hon. Okolo also commended the administration of Governor Peter Mbah for what he described as transformative educational reforms aimed at securing a brighter future for children across Enugu State.
He particularly praised Governor Mbah’s Smart Green Schools initiative across the 260 political wards in the state, describing the project as a revolutionary step toward equipping children with modern knowledge, digital literacy, innovation, and global competitiveness.
“These schools are designed not just to provide knowledge but to empower our children with the skills and confidence needed to thrive in an ever-changing world,” he affirmed.
The chairman further disclosed that the Awgu Local Government administration has commenced the construction and rehabilitation of access roads leading to Smart Green Schools within the council area to improve accessibility and create a conducive learning environment for pupils and students.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to youth and educational development, Hon. Okolo assured residents that the council would continue to implement policies and projects that promote the welfare, growth, and success of children in Awgu.
He concluded by wishing children a joyful and memorable Children’s Day celebration, reminding them that they remain the pride of the community and the foundation of a greater Awgu society.
