Relief has come to residents, traders, artisans and business owners in Mgbowo, Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, following Senator Osita Ngwu’s swift response to the community’s request for improved electricity supply through the donation and delivery of a brand-new 300kVA MEKASON transformer.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The intervention followed a formal appeal by the Mgbowo Joint Town Union on behalf of Eke Market, surrounding residential areas and the wider community, seeking the procurement and installation of a 300kVA/33.415KV transformer to address persistent electricity challenges affecting economic and social activities.
The request, contained in a letter dated June 18, 2026, was jointly signed by the President General of Ekpulato Mgbowo Town Union, Chief Peter Amah, and the Secretary General of Ekpulambo Mgbowo Town Union, Hon. Ikechukwu Nwamgbowo. The community explained that the absence of a functional transformer had disrupted commercial activities at Eke Market, affected homes and businesses, and hindered socio-economic development within Mgbowo.
According to the letter, the persistent electricity challenge had reduced productivity, affected the livelihoods of traders and artisans, discouraged investment, and weakened the community’s capacity to sustain economic growth. The town union also pledged its support towards the successful implementation of the project by assisting with community participation while ensuring the security and proper maintenance of the transformer after installation.
Demonstrating his commitment to responsive representation and grassroots development, Senator Osita Ngwu promptly approved the request and facilitated the procurement and delivery of the transformer as part of his broader efforts to expand access to critical infrastructure and improve the quality of life across communities in Enugu West Senatorial District.
A significant role in facilitating the successful execution of the intervention was played by Hon. Chief Chidi Ejinaka, Senior Special Assistant to Senator Osita Ngwu on Youth Mobilization. Through sustained engagement with the Mgbowo community and close coordination with relevant stakeholders, he ensured that the request received prompt attention and was successfully delivered. His efforts reflect his dedication to grassroots mobilization and community-focused development, complementing the Senator’s commitment to responsive governance.
An official acknowledgment of receipt dated July 6, 2026, confirmed that the Mgbowo community received one unit of the 300kVA MEKASON transformer in good condition. The transformer was formally received on behalf of the community by Hon. Chief Ogbuehi Ejinaka, while the distribution and technical coordination were handled by Engr. Eneiga F.P.I.

The transformer is expected to significantly improve electricity supply across Mgbowo, enhance business operations, support artisans and small-scale enterprises, improve commercial activities at Eke Market, attract new investments, and stimulate sustainable socio-economic growth throughout the community.
For the people of Mgbowo, the intervention represents more than the delivery of electrical equipment. It reflects responsive leadership, effective collaboration between elected representatives and community stakeholders, and a shared commitment to improving the welfare of the people. The successful delivery of the transformer further epitomizes Senator Osita Ngwu’s dedication to impactful, people-centred representation, with the active support of committed aides such as Hon. Chief Chidi Ejinaka, whose grassroots engagement continues to help translate community needs into tangible development projects.
