In a public service announcement issued on July 22, 2026, the Authority said the decision marks a departure from the traditional restriction of movement usually associated with the monthly sanitation exercise. Instead, residents are being encouraged to voluntarily participate by cleaning their homes, business premises, drainage channels and immediate surroundings.

The agency emphasized that environmental cleanliness remains a shared responsibility, urging individuals, households and business owners to use the three-hour exercise to promote a healthier and more sustainable environment.

Beyond the sanitation exercise, ESWAMA reminded residents and business operators that payment of the 2026 Environmental Sanitation Rate is still ongoing. According to the Authority, payments can be made at designated banks or at its headquarters located at No. 7 Ridgeway, State Secretariat GRA, Enugu.

Residents with enquiries were advised to contact the agency through its official WhatsApp and telephone line, 08135534440.

The statement, signed by ESWAMA Managing Director Richard Onaga, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to improving environmental sanitation across Enugu State and called on residents to support the government’s efforts by embracing a culture of cleanliness.

The announcement is expected to provide relief for motorists, commuters and businesses, as movement across the state will remain unrestricted while the sanitation exercise is underway.

“Together, let us keep Enugu clean, healthy and environmentally sustainable,” the Authority stated.
