…Mobilises Support for Mbah, APC Candidates

In Ihuokpara and Mburumbu communities of Nkanu East, the message was unmistakable: the grassroots is paying attention.
The APC Chairmanship Candidate for Nkanu East Local Government Area, Hon. Engr. Mike Chikosolu Ogbuekwe, popularly known as Mmirioma na Nkanu, received a massive show of support from residents during his grassroots engagement with the two communities, where he met directly with the people, listened to their concerns and canvassed support for the continued progress of Enugu State under His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.
The engagement was as much about listening as it was about politics.
Ogbuekwe used the opportunity to appeal to residents to participate actively in the democratic process and support the re-election of Governor Peter Mbah, alongside APC candidates including Hon. Nnoli Nnaji, Hon. Okey Mbah and Senator Kevin Chukwu.
His message was simple but consequential: the future of Nkanu East must be decided by the active participation of its people.
Across Ihuokpara and Mburumbu, the reception was warm, with residents expressing encouragement and solidarity with the Mmirioma campaign.
For Ogbuekwe, the visits offered another opportunity to reinforce what has become a defining feature of his campaign—grassroots engagement, direct communication and a promise of leadership rooted in service.
The Ogbuekwe campaign is positioning the Nkanu East chairmanship contest within the broader political movement behind Governor Mbah and the APC. Governor Mbah’s administration has continued to make development, infrastructure and institutional reform central themes of its agenda, and Ogbuekwe, while seeking the chairmanship of Nkanu East, has been presenting himself as a grassroots partner in that wider development vision.
At Ihuokpara and Mburumbu, the campaign therefore carried two messages: support Mmirioma na Nkanu for the council, and support Governor Peter Mbah and the APC candidates at the relevant levels of the ballot.
Addressing the people, the Director-General of the Mmirioma Campaign Council said the campaign was built around direct engagement with the people rather than political grandstanding.
He described the reception in Ihuokpara and Mburumbu as encouraging and urged residents to translate their support into active participation at the polls.
The DG said the campaign was not about political noise but about purpose, explaining that the team had come to listen to the people, understand their concerns and build a partnership around the future of Nkanu East. He reaffirmed the campaign’s support for Governor Peter Mbah and the APC family, while expressing confidence in Hon. Mike Ogbuekwe’s capacity to provide purposeful leadership at the grassroots.
He further stressed that the people are not spectators in their own democracy but owners of the mandate, urging them to come out, participate and make their voices count.
Speaking after the engagements, Ogbuekwe expressed appreciation to the people of Ihuokpara and Mburumbu for the warmth extended to him and his campaign team.
He said the purpose of his grassroots tour was not simply to ask for votes but to understand the people and build a relationship that would survive beyond the election.
Ogbuekwe explained that he did not come to speak at the people but to speak with them and listen, because the best ideas for Nkanu East, in his view, must come from the people who live in the communities.
He also called on residents to support Governor Mbah’s re-election and the APC candidates, describing the forthcoming electoral process as an opportunity for the people to consolidate the progress they believe the administration has begun.
He pledged that, if elected, his administration would remain accessible to the people and responsive to the needs of communities across Nkanu East.
For the APC candidate, the journey ahead is ultimately about trust, trust between the people and their leaders, between communities and government, and between today’s promises and tomorrow’s possibilities.
From Ihuokpara to Mburumbu, the Mmirioma campaign continues its grassroots journey, seeking not merely to win an election, but to build a political conversation around grassroots participation, Governor Peter Mbah’s continuity agenda and the future of Nkanu East.
