Leaders across all spheres of life in Enugu North Local Government Area of Enugu State have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, Senator Kelvin Chukwu, Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu, Hon. Johnson Ani, Dr. Ibenaku Harford Onoh and all the candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the forthcoming local government elections and 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was made on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, during the grand finale of the local government election campaign in Enugu North Local Government Area, which brought together party leaders, stakeholders, supporters and faithful from the 13 wards of the local government.
Speaking during the grand finale, the Deputy National Chairman, South, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr. Ben Nwoye, said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and all the APC candidates are the candidates to beat, as they have performed beyond expectations.
He praised the leaders of the local government for seeing the future and thinking outside the box with their endorsement of President Tinubu, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, Senator Kelvin Chukwu, Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu, Hon. Johnson Ani and Dr. Ibenaku Harford Onoh, adding that such a gesture will further improve the lives of Ndi Enugu North LG.
Dr. Nwoye also extolled the grassroots leadership of Dr. Ibenaku Harford Onoh, calling him one of the best in the state.
“I am very glad with what is happening today. This is pure and an organic display of love and thankfulness to Mr. President, our Governor and all other candidates of the party. It is clear that Enugu North LG people are looking at the performance of the different levels of government and the changes they have seen around them. This endorsement is also an indication that the leaders are interested in continuity and effective representation, which is one of the things that APC does well. We have seen how important it is for elected officials to remain close to the people, listen to their concerns and ensure that policies and programmes continue to address the needs of ordinary residents, which is what people in Enugu North Local Government have been experiencing. We are happy that we are seeing leaders who think for the future, leaders who think differently and act differently. APC is the party to beat and we want massive support for all our candidates.”
A former chairman of Enugu North Local Government Area and Special Assistant to the Governor on Grassroots Mobilization , Hon. Emeka Onunze , said the All Progressives Congress, APC, has fielded what he described as the best candidates across the political offices ahead of the 2027 general elections, as well as capable leaders ahead of the local government elections in the state.
He stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has redefined leadership through his policies, programmes and projects, which he said have positively impacted the lives of South East residents, particularly in Enugu State and Enugu North Local Government Area.
He posited that the re-election bid of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah is one that the leaders in the council have unanimously been working hard to support, with a target of 99.9 per cent of the votes of the council, adding that Governor Mbah’s leadership has transformed Enugu in various areas of governance, judging by what he described as the visible key performance indicators of the administration.
Hon. Onunze also praised the grassroots leadership of Dr. Ibenaku Harford Onoh in the council, describing him as the Peter Mbah of Enugu North Local Government Area.
In his remarks, the Enugu State Chairman of APC, Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, praised Dr. Onoh for his grassroots leadership, commitment to the development of Enugu North Local Government Area and efforts towards improving the lives of the people.
He stated that Dr. Onoh had demonstrated that effective leadership at the grassroots requires constant engagement with the people and attention to their needs.
“Grassroots leadership requires leaders to remain accessible, responsive and committed to the needs of the people. Dr. Onoh has, through his works and engagements, strengthened confidence in grassroots leadership and encouraged participation.”
He also stated that the APC in Enugu State would continue to support its candidates and mobilise its members for the forthcoming elections.
“The flag represents the party, its candidates and the responsibility they have to the people. We expect all our candidates to remain accessible and committed to the people who elected them.”
Dr. Chukwunweike further commended the leaders and supporters of the party in Enugu North Local Government Area for their support and mobilisation efforts ahead of the elections.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Ibenaku Harford Onoh described the occasion as “a day of gratitude.” He expressed appreciation to the APC and Governor Peter Mbah for their support and assured the party and the people of Enugu North that he and the other candidates would justify the confidence reposed in them and work for the success of the party in the forthcoming local government elections as well as the general elections.
However, the Enugu North campaign team was led by APC LGA Chairman, Hon. Ernest Onuoha; Chairmanship Candidate, Dr. Ibenaku Harford Onoh; and Deputy Chairmanship Candidate, Hon. Echezona Ugwu. Former Enugu North LGA Chairmen, Hon. Emeka Ede, Hon. Emeka Onunze and Hon. Friday Ugwu, were also in attendance.
Also present were Distinguished Senator Kelvin Chukwu; Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu, Member representing Enugu North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives; Hon. Johnson Ani, Member representing Enugu North Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly and Leader of the House; and Rt. Hon. Iloabuchi Aniagu, Member representing Nkanu West Constituency.
Other dignitaries included Hon. Dubem Onyia Jnr., SPA to the Governor on Donor Relations; Hon. Paul Nnajiofor, SPA to the Governor on Legislative Matters; Hon. Gab Agbo, former Member of the House of Representatives; Hon Engr Chinedu Okwu (Otaka) , former Member of the Enugu State House of Assembly; Chief Charley Maduekwe, Onowu of Ogui Nike; Chief Temple Udeh, former Chairman of Ogbete Main Market; and veteran Nollywood actress, Mrs. Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G, among others.
A major highlight of the event was the presentation of APC flags to the chairmanship and councillorship candidates by the Enugu State APC leadership.
Speakers at the event commended the party’s leadership and Governor Peter Mbah, while expressing support for Dr. Ibenaku Onoh’s return bid and the other APC candidates.
