Hon. Onwuegbu Congratulates Re-Elected Aninri, Awgu, Oji-River Chairmen, 41 Councillors

Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, FNSE, Member Representing Aninri/Awgu/Oji-River Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has congratulated the re-elected Chairmen of Aninri, Awgu and Oji-River Local Government Areas, as well as the Councillors elected across the 41 wards in the three local government areas, following the successful conclusion of the Enugu State local government elections.

In a statement, Hon. Onwuegbu specifically felicitated Hon. Ugochukwu Nwanjoku of Aninri LGA, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo of Awgu LGA, and Hon. Greg Anyaegbudike of Oji-River LGA on their renewed mandates, describing their re-election as an opportunity to consolidate on grassroots governance and deepen development across their respective councils.

The federal lawmaker also congratulated the Councillors elected across the 41 wards, urging them to regard their mandates as a call to greater responsibility and effective representation at the grassroots.

He charged the newly elected and re-elected officials to place the interests and welfare of their constituents above every other consideration, while deploying their experience, wisdom and knowledge towards addressing the needs of their communities.

According to him, effective local government administration remains critical to bringing governance closer to the people, stressing that the renewed mandates should translate into tangible development, improved grassroots engagement and better opportunities for the people of Aninri, Awgu and Oji-River.

Onwuegbu further called on the council chairmen and councillors to promote inclusive governance, maintain regular engagement with their constituents and work collaboratively with traditional rulers, community leaders, youth, women and other stakeholders in advancing the development of their respective areas.

He also commended the Enugu State Government and Governor Peter Mbah for the peaceful conduct of the local government elections across the state, noting that a peaceful electoral process provides a conducive environment for elected officials to focus on governance, development and service to the people.

“I warmly congratulate the three re-elected Chairmen of Aninri, Awgu and Oji-River Local Government Areas on their victories. I also congratulate all the elected Councillors across the 41 wards. I urge them to remain committed to the service of our people, guided by wisdom, experience and responsibility.

“As they begin or continue their respective tenures, I wish them wisdom, courage and dedication to deliver on the aspirations of their people and contribute meaningfully to the development of our communities.”

Hon. Onwuegbu reaffirmed his commitment to constructive collaboration with the council leadership, elected representatives and other stakeholders across the federal constituency, stressing that sustained cooperation between the different levels of government is essential to accelerating development and improving the wellbeing of the people.

He wished the council chairmen and councillors a successful and impactful tenure, urging them to remain accessible, accountable and responsive to the needs of their constituents.
