Mike Ogbuekwe, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting healthcare initiatives, as the council, in partnership with the Ministry of Information and the Primary Health Care Agency, organised a sensitisation programme on the National Health Insurance Scheme.

The programme, held at the Nkanu East Local Government Headquarters, Amagunze, brought together traditional rulers, Presidents-General, youths, women leaders and other stakeholders from across the local government area.

The engagement was aimed at deepening awareness of the National Health Insurance Scheme and ensuring that residents are adequately informed about the healthcare benefits available through enrolment.

Speaking on the importance of the initiative, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Engr. Mike Ogbuekwe, popularly known as Mmirioma Na Nkanu, said his administration would continue to support programmes and initiatives capable of improving the welfare and quality of life of Ndi Nkanu East.

He emphasised the importance of community-level participation in disseminating information about the scheme, particularly to residents who may not yet be sufficiently aware of the healthcare benefits available through enrolment.

The sensitisation also provided an opportunity for community leaders and other participants to gain a clearer understanding of the National Health Insurance Scheme and the healthcare opportunities available to individuals and families who enrol.
Hon. Engr. Ogbuekwe said the council would continue to collaborate with relevant government agencies and stakeholders in promoting programmes that place the health and wellbeing of Ndi Nkanu East at the heart of grassroots governance.

He encouraged residents to take advantage of the sensitisation programme by seeking proper information on the enrolment process and making informed decisions about participating in the scheme.

The Council Chairman further stressed the importance of collective participation in initiatives designed to improve healthcare awareness and access across the local government area.
