Governor Mbah made the commendation on Wednesday during the official commissioning of Hosana Estate in Ibagwa Nike, Enugu East Local Government Area, where he also praised Powell Homes and Shelters Ltd. for its investment in the state’s housing sector.
The governor, who was represented at the event by his Deputy, Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai, said the investment by the Enugu-born entrepreneur aligned with the administration’s development agenda and reflected the resilience, enterprise and determination required to build a better Enugu.

He commended Powell Homes and Shelters, as well as other private investors contributing to the state’s economic development, saying their investments were an encouragement to the government’s efforts to reposition Enugu and create an environment conducive to business growth.
Ossai assured investors and residents that the Mbah administration would continue to provide a secure environment for businesses and communities to thrive.
“As government, our primary objective is to provide security for the people, and I’m delighted with what I’ve seen about the estate,” the Deputy Governor said, while urging the investors to work closely with the estate management to ensure effective administration of the development.
He further assured residents that the state government would continue to expand infrastructure across the state.

“On our part, we’ll keep expanding infrastructure, and for all those we’ve not attended to, do not be disappointed. We’re already on that path and we’re progressing geometrically,” he said.

He added: “However, I thank all the investors and assure you that as a government, we’ll continue to provide security for the state.”
Also speaking at the commissioning, the Chairman of Enugu East Local Government Area, Beloved-Dan Anike, commended Powell Homes and Shelters for choosing Ibagwa Nike for the development.

Anike noted that the ongoing dualisation of the road had further positioned the area as an emerging urban centre, describing the estate investment as a strategic move into an area with significant future economic potential.

He said Powell Homes and Shelters had “blazed the trail” by investing in what he described as a future goldmine, while assuring that the local government would continue to support Governor Mbah’s development agenda.
The council chairman also noted that developments such as Hosana Estate could contribute to addressing Nigeria’s housing deficit, particularly in Enugu State.
The traditional ruler of Ibagwa Nike, His Royal Highness, Igwe Emma Ugwu, equally expressed satisfaction with the project, assuring the developers of the community’s support.
Igwe Ugwu recalled that when members of the community approached him for clarification about the project, he assured them that the development was consistent with Governor Mbah’s development agenda and the community’s commitment to supporting genuine businesses.
“When my people came to my palace to make enquiries about the project, I assured them that it aligns with the developmental initiative of His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, and that the company is genuine and reliable,” he said.
The traditional ruler thanked the Managing Director of Powell Homes and Shelters for choosing Ibagwa Nike for the project, assuring him that the community would provide the necessary support for its success.
‘More Than Bricks and Concrete’
In his remarks, the Managing Director of Powell Homes and Shelters Ltd., Architect Chibuikem Onyekachi Emmanuel, described the commissioning of Hosana Estate as more than the unveiling of another housing project, saying it represented “a celebration of vision, perseverance, partnership and the power of purpose.”
He attributed the successful completion of the project to the grace of God and the collective efforts of individuals and organisations that contributed to bringing the vision to fruition.
“Today is not simply about commissioning another housing project. It is a celebration of vision, perseverance, partnership and the power of purpose,” Emmanuel said.
“Above all, we acknowledge that it is by the grace of Almighty God that we have reached this point. What we are witnessing today is a reflection of His faithfulness and the collective efforts of everyone who contributed, in one way or another, to bringing this vision to reality.”
The Powell Homes boss, on behalf of the board, management and entire team of the company, also expressed appreciation to Governor Mbah and his Deputy for honouring the commissioning.
Emmanuel said the company viewed housing as more than the construction of physical structures, describing a home as a source of security, dignity and stability for families.
“At Powell Homes and Shelters, we believe that housing is more than bricks, concrete and physical structures. A home represents security. A home represents dignity. A home provides stability for families,” he said.
“Access to decent housing contributes significantly to the development of healthy, productive and prosperous communities.”
According to him, Hosana Estate was conceived as a planned and functional community designed to meet the needs of modern families, rather than simply as a collection of residential buildings.
He said the estate features essential infrastructure and amenities, including internal roads, drainage systems, electricity infrastructure, recreational facilities, a synthetic football pitch and a children’s playground.
Expanding Access to Homeownership
Emmanuel also acknowledged the significant housing deficit in Nigeria and the financial challenges facing many families, saying Powell Homes and Shelters was committed to making homeownership more accessible.
He said the company would continue to develop quality homes at affordable price points while exploring innovative financing models, strategic partnerships and other housing solutions that could enable more Nigerians and members of the organised private sector to become homeowners.
The managing director said the commissioning of Hosana Estate marked the beginning of a new phase in the company’s expansion plans, rather than the conclusion of its journey.
“While today marks the successful completion and commissioning of Hosana Estate, our journey does not end here. If anything, this achievement strengthens our resolve to do more,” he said.
He disclosed that Powell Homes and Shelters was also looking beyond Enugu State, with plans to expand its housing developments to other parts of Nigeria.

According to him, the company’s long-term vision is to build more homes, develop more communities and expand access to decent housing across Nigeria.

The commissioning of Hosana Estate brought together government officials, community leaders, traditional institutions, investors, professionals and other stakeholders, underscoring the growing role of private-sector investment in addressing Enugu State’s housing and infrastructure needs.
