…Group cites Mbah’s inclusive governance, infrastructure, healthcare and education projects

A political support group, Nwanne Di Na Mba Grand Assembly, has endorsed Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in 2027, pledging to mobilise votes for all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming general elections.

The group, which has renowned Anambra-born businessman, Prince Arthur Eze, as its Grand Patron, announced its endorsement on Friday during a massive rally at Okpara Square, Enugu, attended by supporters and members of various ethnic and religious communities.

As part of its commitment to the re-election efforts, the group also presented a cheque of ₦50 million to Governor Mbah, describing the gesture as a demonstration of its confidence in his leadership and the development direction of the state.

Speaking at the rally, Governor Mbah described the gathering as a demonstration of democratic participation and popular support, expressing appreciation to the non-indigenes for identifying with his administration and the Federal Government.

He said the endorsement reflected growing confidence in the development partnership between the Enugu State Government and the Tinubu-led Federal Government, noting that the economic reforms introduced by the President had created additional fiscal opportunities for state governments to deliver critical infrastructure and social services.

According to the governor, his administration had translated these opportunities into visible projects across healthcare, education and road infrastructure.

He cited the construction of 260 Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres and 268 Smart Green Schools as key achievements, challenging residents to assess his administration based on projects and their direct impact on the lives of the people.

“Because you believe in what you can see, what you can touch and what you can feel. Can you see the Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres? Can you see the good roads? Do you drive on them? Now you can drive on smooth roads, send your children to high-quality schools and access affordable healthcare,” he said.

Mbah further identified the establishment of the South East Development Commission, the proposed gas pipeline network across the region and the concessioning of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport as important developments capable of strengthening the South-East economy.

He said the initiatives would expand opportunities for industrialisation, trade, cargo operations and international connectivity, stressing the need for continuity to consolidate the gains already recorded.

Describing Enugu as a home for all residents, irrespective of their ethnic backgrounds, the governor urged eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate actively in the 2027 elections.

He called on the people to support President Tinubu and all APC candidates, assuring them that his administration would intensify its development efforts.

“With the strength I see here today, with the energy and resolve you have demonstrated, we are committing to do more. What you should expect is more,” Mbah said.

In his remarks, the Grand Patron of the assembly, Prince Arthur Eze, described Governor Mbah as a leader who had maintained positive relationships across political, ethnic and social divides.

Eze said Mbah’s support for President Tinubu and the confidence the President had reposed in the Enugu governor informed the group’s decision to endorse both leaders for another term.

“Peter Mbah is supporting Tinubu very well, and we will support him because he will bring a lot to Ndi Igbo through Tinubu, because Tinubu trusts him very well. We cannot abandon him because he never abandoned anyone,” he said.

The billionaire businessman urged residents of Enugu State to rally behind both leaders in 2027, expressing optimism that their continued leadership would create further opportunities for the South-East.

Also speaking, the Sarkin Hausawa, Alhaji Abubakar Yusuf Sambo, who serves as the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties, said the rally was organised to appreciate the Mbah administration for its inclusive governance and the opportunities it had extended to non-indigenes residing in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the Hausa, Yoruba, Tiv and other ethnic communities, Sambo said non-indigenes had benefited from government interventions in education, healthcare, infrastructure and political appointments.

He particularly noted that children from non-indigene communities had access to the Smart Green Schools, while their families benefited from the Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres and other government initiatives.

“We are happy with your governance and the way you have been carrying us along in Enugu State. We are part of all the programmes going on in the state,” he said.

Sambo consequently pledged the support of the various communities for Mbah and Tinubu, declaring their readiness to vote for APC candidates across all elective positions, from the presidency to the State House of Assembly.

He added that the rally was an initial demonstration of the group’s mobilisation capacity ahead of the anticipated visit of President Tinubu to Enugu State.

Earlier, the Convener of the Nwanne Di Na Mba Grand Assembly and Executive Chairman of the Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority, Barr. Uche Anya, described the rally as the beginning of a broader political mobilisation by non-indigenes and residents of the state’s urban communities ahead of the 2027 elections.

Anya said the group was satisfied with the development initiatives of the Mbah administration and was determined to support the governor’s second-term ambition.

He disclosed that non-indigenes in the municipality had mandated him to communicate their collective resolve to support both Mbah and Tinubu, citing the governor’s inclusive leadership and the Federal Government’s support for Enugu State.

According to him, the group was also committed to ensuring the electoral success of APC candidates at all levels.

“The non-indigenes in the municipality promise that the mistakes of 2023 will never happen again. They will vote President Tinubu for his good works, for integrating Enugu into the mainstream of Nigerian politics and for believing in you,” Anya said.

He described the endorsement as an expression of appreciation for the development partnership between the state and Federal Government, reaffirming the group’s commitment to the APC ahead of the general elections.

The high point of the rally was the formal endorsement of Governor Mbah and President Tinubu for re-election in 2027, alongside the presentation of a ₦50 million cheque to the governor by the support group.

The event attracted several prominent personalities, including the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uche Ugwu; APC Deputy National Chairman (South), Dr. Ben Nwoye; Enugu State APC Chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwunwike; and the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Kingsley Udeh (SAN).

Others included members of the National and State Assemblies, members of the State Executive Council, government appointees, party leaders and supporters.
