
Rangers International Football Club of Enugu secured a crucial 1-0 victory over visiting Abia Warriors of Umuahia on Sunday, earning the maximum three points in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL). The win propels Rangers to 4th position in the NPFL standings with 10 points from five matches.

Despite creating numerous scoring opportunities, Rangers were unable to extend their lead, missing several chances to increase their goal tally.
Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu praised his team’s performance, noting significant improvement in their gameplay. “Our team has started coming. All we need to do is make use of one goal in the game, and we are where we should be,” he said. The coach also highlighted the importance of securing six points from their last two games, providing a substantial advantage in the league.
Ilechukwu, however, acknowledged Abia Warriors’ quality, describing them as “not pushovers.” He recognized the opposing team’s coach, Emma Emakabo, as a seasoned tactician familiar with Rangers’ playing style, having coached the team in the past. “Abia Warriors is a good team with a good coach… having coached Rangers in the past,” Ilechukwu said.
