The Bill, sponsored by Hon. Professor Paul Nnamchi, representing Enugu East/Isi Uzo Federal Constituency in the 10th National Assembly, was presented for stakeholders’ input at a public hearing held earlier this year.

On Wednesday, the Chairman of the House Committee on Agricultural Colleges and Institutions, Rt. Hon. Akim Adeyemi, presented the report of the public hearing outcome before the House in plenary. After clause-by-clause considerations, the report was sent to the office of the Clerk of the House of Representatives for transmission to the Senate for concurrence.

The Speaker, Rt. Honourable Tajudeen Abbas, described the Bill as crucial to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agenda for food security and economic diversification, assuring its processing with utmost seriousness. The Bill received accelerated passage, as promised by the Speaker through Representative Rt. Honourable Julius O. Ihonvbere, the House Leader, at the public hearing.

This development moves the Bill one step closer to being sent to President Tinubu for assent.
