In a bold move to address the perennial water scarcity in Awgu Local Government Area (LGA), the Executive Chairman, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, has launched a portable water initiative, tagged “One Day, One Project.”
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The pilot project, which commenced on October 18, 2024, targets the communities of Obodoakpu, Eziama, and Akanwu of Agbogugu, aligning with Hon. Okolo’s electoral commitments and the vision of Enugu State Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.
According to a statement by Dockey Ndubuisi Michael, SSA on Media & Publicity to the Executive Chairman of Awgu LGA, the project aims to supply safe drinking water to the inhabitants of Awgu, mitigating the difficulties they encounter in securing potable water.
The initiative is expected to proceed until all older communities in Awgu LGA have been adequately served.
In addition, Hon. Okolo has partnered with the Enugu State Water Corporation (ERUWASA) to revive and reticulate the two old water schemes in Awgu LGA, namely the Ogugu and NYSC water schemes, to all Awgu communities.
