
In a bid to strengthen the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, the party’s chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwunwike, on Friday, December 20, 2024, inaugurated the local government executives and ward executives across Nkanu East Local Government Area (LGA). The ceremony, which took place at the Council headquarters in Amagunze, marked a significant milestone in the party’s efforts to reposition itself for future electoral successes.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Chukwunwike charged the newly inaugurated executives to prioritize reconciliation talks with aggrieved members and foster unity within the party. He emphasized the importance of emulating the leadership style of Governor Peter Mbah, whose performance has strengthened the state’s economy. “We must emulate His Excellency, Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, whose performance has made the work of the party executives easier,” Dr. Chukwunwike said.




The state chairman also commended the Nkanu East LGA chairman, Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Edeh, for his achievements in security, infrastructure, and maintaining peaceful relationships with stakeholders. He expressed joy over the return of former party members and encouraged the executives to treat them with fairness and unity. “I applaud Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Edeh for his giant strides in security, infrastructure, and maintaining peaceful and cordial relationships with stakeholders, which has brought back those who left the party,” Dr. Chukwunwike said.




The inauguration ceremony was attended by several prominent party stakeholders, including Hon. Steve Oruruo, deputy state chairman; Hon. Chukwudi Nnadozie, secretary of PDP in Enugu State; Hon. Peace Patrick, state woman leader; Hon. Patrick Okoh, state treasurer; and Hon. Nnamdi Nwafor, zonal chairman of PDP in Enugu East senatorial district.



In his acceptance speech, the newly inaugurated Nkanu East LGA PDP chairman, Hon. Cornelius Edeh, thanked the state chairman and other stakeholders for their efforts towards the success of the event. He promised to run an all-inclusive administration, ensuring that every member of the party is carried along. “I assure you that we will run an all-inclusive administration, where every member of the party will be given a sense of belonging,” Hon. Edeh said.



The highlight of the occasion was the announcement of a tricycle donation by Hon. Nnolim Nnaji, member representing Nkanu East/West at the federal house of reps. Other notable attendees at the event included Hon. Paul Okwor, deputy chairman of Nkanu East LGA; Hon. Ikechukwu Ani, leader of Nkanu East legislative council; and Rev. Felix Okoye, secretary of Nkanu East council.
