In a statement issued on her Facebook page, Mrs. Mbah emphasized the importance of empowering young girls to pursue careers in STEM, noting that “this year’s theme, ‘Unpacking STEM Careers: Her Voice in Science,’ underscores the need to empower more young girls to embrace careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).”
She acknowledged the remarkable contributions of women in shaping the world through innovation and discovery, while also highlighting the challenges many still face in accessing quality education and resources.
Mrs. Mbah stressed the need for creating opportunities for all, ensuring that every girl—whether in urban or rural areas—has access to the tools needed to succeed. “We must continue to create opportunities for all, ensuring that every girl—whether in urban or rural areas—has access to the tools needed to succeed,” she said.
The First Lady also highlighted the progress made in Enugu State through initiatives like smart schools and technology-driven learning programs, which are helping to bridge the digital divide and provide young girls with access to quality STEM education.
According to her, “Through the establishment of smart schools and technology-driven learning initiatives, more young girls in Enugu State are gaining access to quality STEM education. These schools are helping to bridge the digital divide, ensuring that even those in remote communities can develop the skills needed to thrive in today’s fast-evolving world.”
Mrs. Mbah concluded her message by encouraging young girls to pursue their dreams and ambitions in science and technology. “Our dear girls, your dreams are valid, and your voice matters in shaping the future of science. Keep believing, keep learning, and keep pushing boundaries—you are indeed our tomorrow that is here!”
