
In a significant development for medical education in Africa, Professor Titus Sunday Ibekwe, Provost of the College of Health Sciences, has been elected Chair of Research and Innovation at the Consortium of Medical Schools in Africa (COMS-A).

Professor Ibekwe will serve in this position for the next two years, leading the consortium’s research agenda and fostering collaborations among member institutions.
COMS-A is a prestigious league of accredited medical schools across Africa, aimed at promoting and standardizing medical education. As Chair of Research and Innovation, Professor Ibekwe will play a crucial role in shaping the consortium’s research agenda and driving innovation in medical education.
Upon his election, Professor Ibekwe expressed his delight, stating, “I am excited about this election, which reflects the trust the members have in our capacity. The developmental agenda being spread across all African medical schools through this leadership shall obviously favor our institution.”
He further emphasized the benefits of this new role, saying, “The technical know-how and collaborations with Ivy League Institutes shall rub in positively on our institution and reposition the name of CHS in the African and global map.”
