The Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, has made seven new appointments to support his government. The new appointees were sworn in on Tuesday at the council headquarters.

Okolo stated that the new appointees were chosen to help improve leadership and ensure that the people of Awgu Local Government receive better services, in line with the blueprint of Governor Peter Ndubisi Mbah’s administration.
According to Hon. Okolo, the roles of the new appointees will focus on political matters, security, special tasks, and ensuring that government activities are on track, which will enhance efficiency in service delivery.
Hon. Okolo also stated that his goal is to make his team stronger and more focused on the needs of the people, adding that these appointments will help make the local government more active and ready to respond to important issues.
The council’s new appointees include:
- Hon. Adolphus Ekwegbo as Special Adviser (SPA)
- Hon. Chukwu Forster as Special Adviser (SPA)
- Hon. Aganigbo Gabriel Ikechukwu as Special Adviser (SPA)
- Hon. Amobi Mbaka as Special Adviser (SPA)
- Hon. Okwueri Emmanuel Chinedu as Chief Security Officer (CSO)
- Hon. Uche Nebo as Special Adviser (SPA)
- Hon. Okechukwu Ikechukwu Chukwudi as Special Adviser (SPA)
- Hon. Ekene Ujam as Senior Special Assistant (SSA)
- Hon. Ugwubeze Okpa as Senior Special Assistant
Addressing the press on behalf of the newly appointed, Hon. Ekwegbo thanked Hon. Okolo for the opportunity to work in his administration. He stated that since Hon. Okolo assumed office, he has distinguished himself as a leader that is project- and people-oriented, owing to the outstanding achievements of his administration in the areas of security, healthcare, infrastructure, education, and human capital development.
Hon. Ekwegbo assured that they will work hard for the good people across the 11 political wards of the local government.
Dignitaries present at the swearing-in ceremony included the Deputy Chairman of Awgu Local Government; Dr. Stanley Uchenna Ezediuto, Member Representating Awgu South State Constituency; Hon. Anthony Nwankwo, Secretary to Awgu Local Government, Hon. Nelson Uduji, and the Chief of Staff to Awgu Local Government, Hon. Ndubuisi Fidelis Nwaudigwe.
