The celebration, held at the Ike-Ndigbo Event Center (the palace of Onowu Abagana), brought together dignitaries, community members, and cultural troupes in a colorful atmosphere of unity.

Highlighting the occasion, Onowu distributed ₦4 million in startup capital to indigent women, an empowerment scheme designed to foster entrepreneurship, reduce poverty, and promote self-reliance among vulnerable groups. Beneficiaries, drawn from across the community, were full of gratitude, describing the gesture as life-changing.

The festival, locally known as Awam Ji, was steeped in cultural displays that captured the essence of Igbo tradition. Attendees were treated to electrifying masquerade performances, graceful traditional dances, and musical renditions from both grassroots entertainers and elite cultural troupes. The blend of artistry created an atmosphere of celebration that resonated deeply with the people.

In what was described as a bold step toward improving public welfare, Onowu also announced a ₦155 million ($100,000) health care revitalization fund. The investment, he said, will be channeled into upgrading medical infrastructure, procuring modern equipment, and enhancing access to quality health services for the people of Abagana.

Community members applauded Onowu’s leadership, noting that the festival had become more than a celebration of the harvest. It was also a platform for empowerment and social change, where cultural heritage meets progressive development.

As the festivities concluded with the sharing of yam delicacies, the spirit of Abagana shone brightly, rooted in age-old traditions, yet embracing a future of growth, hope, and empowerment.
