During the visit, Dr. Maida inspected the facility and witnessed firsthand the state’s investment in technology manufacturing, an initiative aimed at strengthening local production, creating employment opportunities and deepening Enugu’s digital economy.

The factory has the capacity to produce up to 200,000 units annually, with planned production spanning smartphones, tablets, computers, smart boards, television sets, medical technologies and renewable-energy solutions.

A major highlight of the visit was the NCC’s commitment to supporting the necessary regulatory approvals and licensing required for the facility to be recognised as a local information technology product manufacturer.

Such recognition is expected to position the factory to benefit from applicable government incentives while providing opportunities for the expansion of its products into domestic and international markets.

The development is part of the broader technology and economic transformation agenda of the Enugu State Government under Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, with emphasis on moving the state beyond technology consumption to local production and innovation.

The initiative is also expected to contribute to job creation, technical skills development, industrial growth and the expansion of Enugu’s digital economy.

With the establishment of the Haier manufacturing facility, Enugu is positioning itself as a growing destination for technology investment and production, with ambitions extending beyond the Nigerian market to the wider African and global markets.
