The Nsukka Youth General Assembly (NYGA) has passed a formal vote of no confidence on Comrade Clinton Ogbonna following an emergency executive meeting held to address a protest he reportedly staged against the Chairman of Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area. The Assembly stated that the action was carried out without its authorization and did not represent the collective position of the youth body.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The meeting, presided over by the Vice President, Comrade Eze Juliet Adaeze, concluded that the protest was “personal, self-driven, and entirely outside the knowledge and approval of the NYGA leadership”. The executives stressed that no organ of the organization was consulted or involved in the planning of the demonstration.
In its statement, the Assembly reaffirmed that it is a non-political, development-oriented and peace-driven youth organization guided strictly by constitutional values of dialogue, unity, and constructive engagement. It condemned attempts by individuals to drag the name of the NYGA into personal or partisan conflicts capable of unsettling the peace of the community.
Citing several internal concerns—including Ogbonna’s failure to convene mandatory meetings, unauthorized decisions taken without executive approval, the opening of an account in the name of the Assembly, and actions deemed capable of creating tension—the NYGA declared a vote of no confidence in him and announced his immediate removal from every role or representation within the body.
The Assembly further directed Comrade Ogbonna to cease presenting himself as President of the NYGA, mandating him to return all documents and properties belonging to the organization within seventy-two hours to the Secretariat under the office of the Secretary General.

Beyond the internal resolutions, the NYGA also acknowledged the developmental efforts of the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, especially in the Nsukka zone. The executives praised the governor’s leadership style and called for increased youth inclusion in governance, expanded empowerment programmes, and broader opportunities for young people in Enugu North Senatorial Zone and across the state.
Reassuring its members and the public, the Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace, unity, and sustainable development. It urged youths in Nsukka to remain law-abiding and focused on positive engagements that advance the collective interest of the region.
The statement was jointly signed by Comrade Eze Juliet Adaeze, Vice President; Comrade Uchenna Ernest, Secretary General; Comrade Onyeji Kingsley, Treasurer; Ambassador Ugwu Samuel, Organizing Secretary; Comrade Asogwa Thomas, Auditor; and Comrade Ugwu Kingsley A.
