Since the return to democratic governance in 1999, leadership positions in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area have been distributed across its four Development Centres. However, a critical review of the records reveals a noticeable imbalance in the allocation of elective executive positions, particularly the Local Government Chairmanship.

SUMMARY AND CALL FOR EQUITY
A careful examination of leadership distribution since 1999 clearly shows that Isi-Uzo Central Development Centre (Ikem) remains the least benefitted in terms of elected Local Government Chairmanship.
While other Development Centres have produced multiple chairmen and commissioners over the years, Isi-Uzo Central has produced only one elected Local Government Chairman in over two decades of democratic governance.
THE WAY FORWARD
In the interest of fairness, unity, and political stability, the Equity and Integrity Group and other relevant stakeholders are strongly urged to:
Zone the 2026 Isi-Uzo Local Government Chairmanship to Isi-Uzo Central Development Centre (Ikem).
This will not only correct a long-standing imbalance but also strengthen inclusive governance and reinforce trust among the people of Isi-Uzo Local Government Area.
