
Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, , and the Minister of Science and Technology, , have initiated plans to strengthen collaboration aimed at boosting indigenous military technologies and improving the country’s security architecture.

Speaking during the meeting, Musa stressed the importance of stronger synergy among key government ministries, noting that innovation and locally developed technologies remain critical to addressing Nigeria’s security challenges. He emphasized that enhancing the country’s scientific and technological capabilities would significantly strengthen defence operations.
The defence minister also drew attention to the persistent electricity challenges faced by several military barracks across the country, describing reliable energy supply as vital to effective defence operations. He therefore called for closer collaboration between the Ministry of Defence and the to explore sustainable power solutions for military facilities.
“Stable energy supply is essential for operational efficiency, improved living conditions for personnel, and the effective functioning of military institutions,” Musa said.
He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to working closely with the scientific and technology community in areas such as research, innovation, capacity building, and energy development to strengthen Nigeria’s defence capabilities.
On his part, Udeh expressed the readiness of his ministry to partner with the defence sector, noting that Nigeria possesses vast scientific potential that can be harnessed to support national security.
Both ministers agreed that stronger institutional partnerships would play a crucial role in translating scientific research into practical solutions that promote national development and reinforce the country’s security framework.
