The Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, has congratulated the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, following his recognition with two awards at the Independent Newspaper Silver Jubilee Awards held in Lagos.

Governor Mbah was named Outstanding Governor of the Year and Financial Architect Governor of the Year at the event, which brought together political leaders, business executives, and other stakeholders from across Nigeria.
In a statement issued on the development, Hon. Okolo described the awards as recognition of what he termed the governor’s ongoing reform efforts and leadership approach in Enugu State. He said the honours reflect the administration’s focus on governance reforms, infrastructure development, and economic restructuring.
According to him, the achievements recorded under the Mbah administration, particularly in the area of internally generated revenue (IGR), demonstrate what he described as improved financial management and policy direction in the state.
He noted that the recognition places Enugu State in a positive national spotlight and urged continued commitment to developmental goals across sectors.
Okolo also expressed the support of the Awgu Local Government Area, stating that grassroots structures remain aligned with the state government’s development agenda aimed at extending governance outcomes to rural communities.
Governor Mbah, while receiving the awards, was reported to have dedicated the recognition to the people of Enugu State and reiterated his administration’s commitment to transparency, innovation, and measurable development outcomes.
The awards form part of activities marking the Independent Newspaper Group’s 25th anniversary celebration.
