According to an official press release, operatives attached to the Trans-Ekulu Division apprehended a 30-year-old suspect, identified as Ibeabuchi Ifeanyi Collins, on April 18, 2026, at about 10:00 a.m. The suspect was found in possession of a tricycle reported stolen earlier that same morning.
The case was initiated after the custodian of the tricycle lodged a complaint, stating that the vehicle had gone missing around 6:00 a.m. after being parked in front of his residence in Trans-Ekulu, Enugu.
Police authorities disclosed that upon receiving the report, operatives were immediately mobilised, while details of the theft were promptly relayed through the Command’s control room. During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime, attributing his actions to economic hardship. The police confirmed that he will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended the оперативes for their professionalism and rapid response, which ensured both the arrest and recovery. He further urged vehicle owners to adopt basic security measures to protect their property, while reaffirming the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
