Achị Clan Disowns Alleged Spokesperson, Reaffirms Support for Governor Mbah

The leadership of the Achị Clan has distanced itself from an online interview attributed to one Ugo Omere, who reportedly claimed to speak on behalf of the community and issued political threats regarding unmet demands.

In a public disclaimer issued on 10 May 2026, the clan categorically stated that Ugo Omere holds no recognized position within its traditional or administrative structures. According to the statement, he is neither a traditional ruler, President-General, Chairman of the Achị Improvement Union, nor does he occupy any known youth or women’s leadership role within the clan.

The leadership further clarified that Omere has no mandate to represent or speak for the Achị people in any official capacity, describing any such claims as “false and unauthorized.”

Reaffirming its political stance, the clan declared its collective support for the re-election bid of the Governor of Enugu State, , stating that the position expressed in the disputed interview does not reflect the views or decisions of the Achị people.

The statement urged the public to disregard the contents of the circulating interview and warned against treating it as an official communication from the clan. It also advised that all legitimate enquiries or engagements concerning the Achị community should be directed to its recognised traditional council and established leadership structures.

The disclaimer was signed by representatives of the Achị Clan leadership.
