Enugu Govt Clarifies Verification Exercise, Warns Against Double Registration

The Enugu State Government has clarified that the ongoing verification exercise in the state is strictly meant for newly employed civil servants, unverified pensioners, and next-of-kin beneficiaries whose previous verification processes were incomplete.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Secretary to the State Government, , explained that the exercise does not apply to pensioners, retirees, or beneficiaries who have already completed their verification.

According to the government, the categories eligible for the current exercise include next-of-kin beneficiaries who were unable to complete their earlier verification due to delays in obtaining Letters of Administration from the courts, pensioners who missed the previous exercise but recently received their verification codes, and newly employed civil servants undergoing verification for the first time.

The government stressed that persons who have already been verified should not present themselves again, noting that their files are already being processed through the appropriate administrative channels.

It further warned that any previously verified individual who appears again for verification would be considered to have engaged in double verification, which it described as an act of fraud that could attract sanctions.

The state government reiterated its commitment to ensuring a transparent, orderly, and timely verification process for all legitimate beneficiaries, while urging members of the public to avoid actions capable of delaying or disrupting the exercise.
